Commander of the United Nations Intelligence Taskforce (Britain). The archetypal soldier...fearless, cunning, somewhat bull-headed. Carries off both slate grey and olive-drab uniforms with consummate style. Greets each successive alien invasion with the same bemused determination. Trusts the Doctor implicitly. Conceals perfectly normal relationship with watch-giving lady friend for no readily apparent reason. Considers the Doctor to be a splendid bunch of fellows.

Subordinate to Captain Yates. Fond of soccer. Manages to always escape unscathed from massacres of his fellow UNIT men. Chooses not to understand what's going on most of the time, and is better off for it. Would walk through fire for the Doctor, but never had to. Ended up selling used cars for a living. Chats with dead father occasionally.

Brigadier Lethbridge-Stewart's direct subordinate. Well-spoken, charming, idealistic. Efficient executor of military operations. Eager to embrace Eastern mysticism and genocidal ultra-environmentalist causes. Clearly went to public school. Carried on non-existent romance with Jo. Has been labelled gay by people who cannot back the contention up with any sort of evidence.
