Mel's uncle, Dr John Hallum is a historian who works at the National Foundation for Scientific Research, and she used to visit him during school holidays. She loves libraries and likes a good ghost story.
The production code places this story after the Juggernauts. After being sent back in time she sustains memory loss, and spends six months there before the Doctor and her uncle are able to retrieve her.
