This episode takes place shortly after Time and the Rani (It's stated the Doctor has recently regenerated).
Mel hasn't climbed a tree since she was a girl. She read the entire canon of Sherlock Holmes books by the age of nine. She recognises the style of an alien operating system (and somehow accesses the source code!) of a computer.
