JUST WAR
 |
A Virgin New Adventure by Lance Parkin, featuring the seventh Doctor,
Benny, Chris and Roz. Guest starring Mel.
"Isn't this interfering in history?"
Publication Date: January 1996
ISBN: 0-426-20463-8
Comments: Interspersed within this (excellent) novel are the pieces
of a mini-MA set in season 24. Even in the brief segments in which she
appears (pages 125, 186, 238 and 251) the author captures the character
superbly. Mel meets and is romanced by Emil Hartung, the racing car driver
and avionics expert. This takes place either before or after
Paradise Towers.

Decalog 3
FEGOVY
 |
A short story by Gareth Roberts, featuring the sixth
Doctor and Mel.
"Mel, you are indefatigable"
Publication Date: July 1996
ISBN: 0-426-20478-6
The Doctor and Mel are trying to conduct an experiment when the desolate
asteroid they're on is struck by a hit-and-run driver. They follow the
miscreant to a rather bizarre auction...
Comments: A thoroughly excellent story. Both the Doctor and Mel
are well written, and the plot is entertaining. More titbits come out:
Mel has been travelling with the Doctor for several months and they've already
encountered the Chelonians in a more violent part of history. There's also
mention of a younger brother. (Which wasn't noted in my biography and will
probably be missed for Business Unusual, but even Virgin seems not to regard
the Decalogs as "canon") This story takes place between Business
Unusual and Millennial Rites.
